Group Therapy for Teens

Being a Teenager is Tough!

Being a teenager is tough. Teens today need all the help they can get to navigate the stress, conflict, and confusion of an increasingly difficult world.

Parenting a teenager is also tough. With issues like bullying, tech obsession and social isolation. Parents need support to learn new ways of relating to their children

MY EXPERIENCE

In 2003 I co-founded a small public high school in Brooklyn, The High School for Public Service. At this school, I created a unique group therapy program that has helped hundreds of young people with their emotional difficulties.  In addition, I have extensive private practice experience and am passionate about my work with teenagers. I'm a graduate of Hunter College School of Social Work and received my advanced training at the East Side Institute for Group and Short Term Psychotherapy.

In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I’m on staff at the East Side Institute and frequently give training and talks regarding my work with both adults and teenagers.

MY APPROACH

I relate to teens as both who they are and who they are becoming. In groups the young people create new conversations that help them feel less victimized and ultimately more powerful in the world.

In the group, the young people create a trusting environment where they can take some risks. They talk about what's going on in their lives and get help to grow socially and emotionally. They learn new ways of communicating and relating, both with each other as well as others in their lives

MY

EXPERIENCE

I have a passion for working with young people. In 2003 I was a co-founder of a small high school in Brooklyn, NY. After studying a unique therapy approach called Social Therapy, I established a group therapy program at the school. These groups have helped hundreds of young people with their emotional difficulties. I currently practice this approach in my private practice in a weekly teen/young adult group. In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I’m on staff at the East Side Institute and frequently give training and talks regarding my work with both adults and teenagers.
